Applications now open for volunteer counsellors

The Women’s Centre welcomes all self-identifying women for a variety of activities, workshops and projects, including counselling, or just to spend time in our Welcome Space.

Nottingham Women’s Centre recruits volunteer counsellors every year. RenewPlus is staffed by a mixture of qualified, experienced counsellors and trainees who are registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) or Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC). They are DBS checked, insured and have regular clinical supervision outside the centre. We make a charge of £20 a month which contributes to running costs, ongoing training and yearly reports.

We are a growing practice with 24 counsellors currently working with us. Assessments are undertaken by qualified counsellors. Sessions are offered between 9-5 on weekdays, Monday and Wednesday evenings, and Saturday afternoons. This is currently via Zoom and telephone with a hope to returning to face to face work in 2021 when we will offer both face to face, virtual or outdoor therapy.

We welcome applications from students in at least the second year of training on a recognised counselling training course as well as qualified counsellors looking to gain hours for accreditation. We are especially interested in receiving applications from women who speak additional languages, are from diverse cultures and LGBTQ+ communities and are able to work via Zoom.
