Our work highlighted in Parliament again

On Tuesday 22nd February, our Centre Manager Melanie Jeffs gave evidence at a Home Affairs Select Committee meeting on ‘Hate Crime and its Violent Consequences’. She was asked to give evidence on the rationale behind the local move to classify misogyny as a hate crime, alongside Sarah Green from the End Violence Against Women Coalition, and representatives from the police, including Superintendent Ted Antill from Nottinghamshire Police. The aim of the session was to give MPs a chance to explore the subject and to ask questions. We hope that it contributes to the push to roll this initiative out on a national level.

  • The Farr Centre – Inspirational Speaker Maggie Stubbs In Worksop From 10am to 12noon. Free Women only Event.
  • Nottingham Women’s Centre 11am – 2pm. With a Cake stall, Drumming workshops, Guest speakers, Treatments, Dancing and lots of other great activities. Also including a guest talk from Amnesty International at 11am on current international womens rights. All women welcome! IWD 2017 poster FINAL
