Nottingham Women’s Centre Board of Trustees had its first ‘virtual’ meeting on Thursday night, with COVID-19 as the main item on the agenda. In the last few weeks, the world has turned upside down. We’re so very proud of our staff for the way that they responded to the challenges and for the way that they managed to close down the Centre physically, while keeping our service open to women.
The message that we want to send on behalf of the Centre is that ‘we’re still here for you’. Our staff are working hard behind the scenes to keep as much going as we can – keeping in touch with users via email and phone calls, and developing new ideas for taking our services into a virtual space.
A key part of our role is to support women to be heard by decision makers at a local, regional and national level. We really want to hear from women about how they are managing the current situation, both so that we can relay these messages to those who need to hear them, and also so that we can reshape our services to address new and changing needs. Please keep talking to us.
And please, please stay safe. Continue to follow government guidelines about staying home and ask for help if you need it. There is lots of support locally and the Centre will continue to share that information with you on our website, social media and through our newsletter. Nottingham Women’s Centre phone line is still open 10-2 each week day.
