Support from Shoosmiths

Shoosmiths Raise over £7,000 for the Women’s Centre – And Choose us Again This Year!

We are delighted to announce that the Nottingham branch of the law firm Shoosmiths have chosen us for their Charity of the Year for a second year, having raised over £7,000 for us over the last year.

Staff at Shoosmiths have run marathons, baked cakes donated raffle prizes, held dress down days and football-themed events to raise over £7,000 for the Women’s Centre.  In addition, they have donated much-needed office furniture, hosted our staff away day and given us pro-bono legal advice, all of which have saved us time and money.  Our thanks go to all at Shoosmiths for their amazing support.  This year, they are supporting us in making over our garden to create a therapeutic outdoor space for women who use the Centre.  We are really looking forward to working with them again this year.

General Election – Pledges from Candidates

As part of the Domestic and Sexual Violence campaigns which includes Women’s Aid Integrated Services (WAIS), Nottinghamshire Rape Crisis Centre, Equation and POW Nottingham we contacted candidates in this years General election to ask them about their views on addressing violence against Women and Girls locally.

We asked Candidates:
  1. Will you take the Women’s Aid’s Pledge for this General Election? The Pledge sets out how candidates can Hear Her, See Her, and Support Her. I have attached more information about the Pledge, which also includes information on domestic abuse, why it is a pressing issue for your future constituency, and the work of Women’s Aid. Can I count on you to Hear Her, See Her and Support Her if you are elected as our MP? See the Women’s Aid Pledge here.
  1. Will you tell us how else you intend to defend women’s rights and reduce the financial, social and political inequalities still present in society?

See our full letter to candidates here.
